Ginkgo Biloba is one of the most-studied botanicals for
cognition. The large, NIH-funded GEM (Ginkgo Evaluation of Memory)
trial followed thousands of older adults and did not find that
ginkgo prevented cognitive decline or dementia.
Bacopa Monnieri has smaller human trials, typically measuring
memory-related outcomes after 8–12 weeks of daily use, with mixed
results across studies. Phosphatidylserine, N-Acetyl L-Carnitine,
and L-Glutamine have limited and mixed evidence specifically for
cognitive benefit in healthy adults. Alpha GPC's strongest
evidence comes from populations with existing cognitive impairment
rather than general wellness use.
